The colonial franc or CFA franc is nothing more than a coin introduced in some former French colonies. Definable as one of the most common currencies in Africa, it has been adopted in countless states and is currently used in 14 countries.
Its value floats around that of the Euro; Thanks precisely to its connection with the Euro, the CFA franc guarantees a monetary stability and a consequent international credibility to the States that adopt it.
The states that use it are divided into two groups: UEMOA (West African Economic and Monetary union), composed of Cameroon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, and CEMAC (Economic and Monetary Community of central Africa), composed of Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
The exchange of this currency is guaranteed by the central bank French.
Lately the nature of this currency is at the center of countless controversies fueled by some political leaders, who more than once have researched a scapegoat to be responsible for the arrival of migrants in Italy.
This figure has taken countless forms, from ' the strong powers ' to the NGOs '.
